TMRC - "Promoting the hobby of Model Railroading."

The Tidewater HO Modular Railroad Club was formed in April 2009. It is a 100% NMRA member club.

The Club is organized to promote educational, charitable, historical, and fellowship activities related to model railroading and rail transportation.

The purpose of the TMRC is for members to set up modules and run trains at public locations. The TMRC works to introduce people to the hobby of model railroading by operating a modular HO scale model railroad out in public areas such as shopping malls, libraries, museums, schools, and other similar public locations where it can interact with the public during scale railroad operations. The club seeks to have a modular layout display several times a year. Every member should try to find or create opportunities to have a show.

The modular concept is such that anyone can build relatively simple, portable sections, which can be combined in any arrangement and number to form a large operating layout. All basic modules are interchangeable, can be located in any portion of the layout and can be quickly and simply connected, or disconnected to other modules.

In order to operate interchangeably necessary to allow the TMRC modular concept to work, each module is required to meet and adhere to the minimum standards set forth in the Module Specifications and Standards document of the NMRA and the TMRC.
